To My Dear Students,

Sir Edmund Hillary, first conqueror of Mt. Everest, did not succeed until his third attempt.  Following a failed ascent, Hillary addressed a group about his frustration in not succeeding.  Behind him on the wall was a large photograph of Everest.  Hillary pointed to the picture and said, "Mt. Everest, you have defeated us.  But I will return.  And I will defeat you.  Because you cannot get any bigger ... and I can."

Sir Edmund grew "bigger than Everest" by summoning his courage, maintaining his faith, and refusing to surrender.

We all confront mountains that might be unconquerable on our first or second attempt.  But through perseverance, faith in G-d, and trust in ourselves, we can make our way to the top!

Shabbat Shalom,

Your Rabbi
