I am a native San Diegan, grew up in the San Fernando Valley and returned to San Diego to raise my family. In 2010, I retired as Professor and Director of Reading Services and the Education Program at Palomar Community College, after four decades of employment.
At Palomar, I also Co-Chaired the successful Proposition M Bond, raising $694 million for new campus construction. I have run a small business and in the community, I have served in many leadership capacities, including as the president and treasurer of non-profit boards. I have been a member of Temple Adat Shalom in Poway, CA for 34 years and am familiar with the workings of a synagogue. I have always been spiritually Jewish and look forward to this encore career and growing my faith in my new home.
Temple Bat Yahm is not new to me. I have a grandson currently enrolled in the preschool and another grandson who is a graduate. My daughter and son-in-law, the Nightingales, are members of TBY. I have come to services, events and celebrations and have always felt welcomed. I want existing and new members to feel as welcomed as I have. I am grateful to the clergy, the Board and staff for this opportunity and for all of the help they have already given.
