Where there is music, there is prayer

At Temple Bat Yahm, our music is inspired by tradition and is steeped in Jewish music history. Our Cantor leads us, accompanied by piano or organ, in a service that is 90 percent sung by the congregation, freeing the worshipper to concentrate on prayer. The tunes are a mixture of traditional and contemporary melodies interspersed with cantorial recitatives. Our Family Service on the first Friday of the month features our student choir, Gleekim.

  Gleekim

Gleekim is TBY’s new student choir that leads Family Shabbat Services in song every first Friday of the month. Gleekim invites all students in grades 3-7 to participate in learning Shabbat prayers and melodies while joining the congregation in sharing the joy of Shabbat.

  Adult Choir

Led by Cantor Grant, Temple Bat Yahm boasts a 30 voice volunteer choir that sings at all our High Holy Day services. Additionally, a smaller volunteer choir sings at special festival services and on various Shabbat services throughout the year. We’re always looking for more voices and invite you to join!

  Religious School Music

Cantor Grant oversees a full 28-week curriculum of music for grades K-7. Most of the songs relate to our Jewish holy days, festivals, Shabbat and/or to the weekly Torah portion. Cantor Grant’s curriculum uses a mixture of age-appropriate traditional and contemporary songs, taught by our Cantor and song leader, all accompanied by guitar and/or piano and rhythmic instruments.
