Where there is music,
there is prayer |
| |
At Temple Bat Yahm, our music is
inspired by tradition and is steeped
in Jewish music history. Our Cantor
leads us, accompanied by piano or
organ, in a service that is 90 percent
sung by the congregation, freeing
the worshipper to concentrate on prayer.
The tunes are a mixture of traditional
and contemporary melodies interspersed
with cantorial recitatives. Our Family
Service on the first Friday of the
month features our Junior Choir.

Over 25 strong and led by our Cantor,
the Junior Choir is an optional activity
for students in grades 3-7. The Junior
Choir leads all the music at our monthly
Family Shabbat Service, is heard at
special festival services throughout
the year, and sings at special community
events. They are a treat to hear!

Religious School Music |
| |
Cantor Grant oversees a full 28-week
curriculum of music for grades K-7.
Most of the songs relate to our Jewish
holy days, festivals, Shabbat and/or
to the weekly Torah portion. Cantor
Grants curriculum uses a mixture
of age-appropriate traditional and
contemporary songs, taught by our
Cantor and song leader, all accompanied
by guitar and/or piano and rhythmic
instruments.
