A little about me: I am a professor at California State University, Long Beach, where I teach poetry and literature courses. As a poet, I have published four books of poems and won some lovely prizes. Before that, I taught at USC and California Institute of the Arts. I earned my BS and MS in Journalism from Northwestern University, my MFA in Poetry from University of California, Irvine, and my Ph.D. in Poetry and Literature from University of Houston. I am married to Eric Little, an attorney. Eric grew up in Chicago and relocated to Newport Beach in 1979. We have two fabulous kids: Sydney (15 years old) and Will (13 years old). Syd attends Corona del Mar High School and Will attends The Pegasus School. We have been members at Temple Bat Yahm since 2001. I like to run (slowly), cycle (quickly), hike at Crystal Cove with friends, go to the theater and hang out with my family.

I grew up in in a large reform congregation in Detroit, where my mother taught Sunday School and was the cantor’s secretary for 20 years. I was active in our youth group, which was part of Michigan State Temple Youth and NFTY. I have always felt my temple was a second home, and knew that I wanted to create that feeling for myself and my family here at TBY. So that is what I have done. Fortunately, this can be a shared experience, and is, in fact, best shared with new and old friends.

We have no shortage of dreams and visions here at Temple Bat Yahm. We have a remarkable clergy team, an industrious and creative staff, and a terrific group of volunteers to help achieve our goals. That said, YOUR dreams, visions, and ideas are in demand. If we work together, we can enhance our Jewish communal and personal experience.
