Madrichim: Teen Leadership

The Madrichim: Teen Leadership program is a chance for 8th-12th graders to give back to our TBY and JCAL community. Madrich/Madrichah means “guide” in Hebrew. Madrich/ah will serve as the teachers' assistants for JCAL. The Madrich/ah program is a weekly commitment of every scheduled JCAL session (which are all on Sundays). Each teen will be assigned to a class and teacher for the year. Madrich/ah can earn community service hours for this program.*
 
Duties include:
  • Helping with virtual classroom management
  • Mentoring younger students
  • Supporting class projects, including possibly running break-out room facilitation 
  • Taking attendance and sending to JCAL administrator 
  • Leading activities and icebreakers to engage students
To be a Madrich/ah, you must commit to:
  • Attending every virtual JCAL session as a Madrich/ah
  • Madrich/ah Orientation, Sunday, August 23rd, 11:45 - 1:30
  • Four mandatory training sessions for Madrichim/ah that take place after JCAL sessions,  11:45 - 12:30 in which Madrich/ah will gain tools to help in the classroom. (Dates Coming Soon)
  • Monthly Check-In individually and as a Small group (Times TBD)
Optional but encouraged commitment: 
  • Staff  “Camp JCAL” for your grade in the Spring (9 am - 4 pm, one Sunday TBD), an in-person learning experience (following the best safety guidelines for in-person gatherings at that time)
*The Madrichim: Teen Leadership program is volunteer only (no pay provided).
