Religious Action Center

As Californians, we know climate change is already here. To create the big shifts that will heal our relationships with the planet and with each other, we need to build a movement. Through RAC-CA's Climate Tzedek Campaign, we will build our power and voice as the statewide network of Reform congregations, working with partners, to achieve equitable, science-based solutions to the climate crisis and strengthen our communities as we do it.

During the webinar, we will:
  • Take action to fight for a key climate equity program in the state budget
  • Hear from Senator Henry Stern, author of a bill to accelerate California’s timeline to reduce our climate warming emissions (SB 12)
  • Hear updates on the 4 bills in RAC-CA’s 2023 Agenda
  • Prepare for public action and lobbying on one of our bills

Community Action Partnership of Orange County

TBY is committed to fulfilling the mitzvah to feed the hungry. We supported Community Action Partnership of Orange County in fighting poverty and food scarcity with our Pesach Appeal for donations to the Duarte Social Action Fund.

Born of the War on Poverty, Community Action Partnership of Orange County (CAP OC) has worked to enhance the quality of life here since 1965. They boldly address the root causes of poverty and advocate for change through systemic reforms, social justice and racial equity. Thanks to the generosity of our congregants we were able to make a substantial monetary contribution to this worthy organization.

During Purim, we collected and created "Welcome Home" baskets for those recently acquiring housing through CAPOC. Social Action Taskforce Chair Ellen Phillips delivered 36 baskets created during the Purim Carnival!

Thank you for your gift to the Duarte Family Social Action Fund. Fund is used to support TBY projects focused on local, national, Israeli and international social action issues.

If you have a question about your donation, please email Lesa at lhodgkins@tby.org

This fund helps make youth engagement and programming possible. Recognition of you gift will appear in the Scribe magazine.

Sock Recycling Drive

Thanks To All Who Participated in the March Drive to donate socks. We recycled about 50lbs of socks that did not end up in a landfill through the Second Cut Project.

Big thanks to our sock sorting extraordinaire & TBY Social Action committee volunteer Denise for taking the reins on this project!

Ongoing Programs

Using the Religious Action Center of Reform Judaism’s highlight of social justice issues, we will discuss different topics through a Jewish lens with text study and experts from within our community to bring forth Awareness, Advocacy, and Action. Should a particular topic strike further interest, we will create a coalition of TBY members to explore and respond further. This program takes place exclusively on Zoom.
